From War Survivor to Healer: UK Holistic Health Practitioner Launches Uganda Mission to Restore Hope and Dignity in Healthcare

London, UK – November 2025

Born amidst civil war in Uganda and raised between two continents, holistic health practitioner Helen Nachintu is returning to her homeland this December to lead a powerful campaign of healing, education, and medical support. Her initiative, “Returning Home to Heal,” is a deeply personal mission, one rooted in loss, resilience, and the unshakable belief that health is a birthright, not a privilege.

“I am a child survivor of three civil wars,” Helen shares. “I grew up in the slums of Kamwokya in Kampala, and during school holidays, we lived in the village of Buikwe with my grandparents. My grandmother was a healer, and a Seer who taught me how to prepare natural medicines and interpret dreams. She is the foundation of everything I do today.”

Her grandmother’s death in 2014 changed her life forever. She died simply because there was no doctor, no first aid, and no one trained to help. In Uganda, there is just one doctor for every 30,000 people, and many rural communities have no access to basic care at all.

“When I went back for her funeral, I discovered that the villagers had forgotten how to use the very medicines growing around them. Herbs like Moringa, which are central to many of my health protocols today. That really broke my heart. They’d been told to cut down their healing trees in exchange for dependency on costly pharmaceuticals.”

A Mission Born from Loss and Compassion

In 2018 and 2019, Helen self-funded and organised four natural health seminars across Uganda, in her grandmother’s village and the slums where she grew up. Working with local medics and nonprofits, she witnessed the incredible hunger for knowledge among people who had so little.

This December, Helen will return for a three-week outreach, collaborating with Mobiklinic Uganda (founded by her cousin, winner of Forbes 30 under 30, and 2024 Global Citizen Award winner, Andrew Ddembe) and Destiny Doctors Uganda, an organisation bringing healthcare to the most neglected corners of the country.

Her goal is to deliver six to eight holistic health seminars across orphanages, churches, and villages, teaching nutrition, health education, parasite cleansing, hygiene, and emotional wellbeing. She will also raise funds to equip doctors with vital tools like blood pressure monitors, glucometers, and first aid kits.

Many Ugandan doctors working in government hospitals often go up to three to six months without pay. They still work, out of sheer compassion. But the pressure is crushing. Most have families to support, student loans to repay, and often resort to having 2 - 4 side hustles just to survive. We’re even losing doctors to suicide. They need help as much as their patients do.”

The Venus Health Community: Healing Beyond Borders

To sustain her mission and extend healing to supporters around the world, Helen has created the Venus Health Community, a global online platform offering access to guided meditations, holistic health resources, journals, and the very protocols she uses with her clients.

Anyone who donates £30 or more to the Uganda fundraiser will receive one month of free access to this community. Anyone who donates £1000 or more will get lifetime access to the community.

“It’s a circle of giving,” Helen says. “Those who help heal Uganda will also receive support for their own wellbeing. Together, we create ripples of healing that move through the world.”

A Call to Action

Helen’s fundraising goal is £8,150 enough to cover travel, accommodation, education materials, and critical medical equipment for outreach teams serving thousands of people.

“Every pound counts,” Helen says. “Every act of kindness becomes medicine. I’m not just going back to Uganda to teach, I’m going home to honour my grandmother, to stand with the doctors, and to remind people that healing is everyone’s birthright.
